Objective: This study aims to confirm the time use of the developmentally disabled participating in vocationalrehabilitation and to suggest a occupational balance according to such use.
Methods: An occupational questionnaire was used to investigate the time use and occupational balance among 106people with developmental disabilities participating in vocational rehabilitation programs. The data were analyzedby applying descriptive statistics and ANOVA.
Results: It was found that people with developmental disabilities spend less time performing daily activities in thework area of their daily life, and spend more time in leisure activities and sleeping than others in the same agegroup. The types of occupation were daily activity type 5.7%, excessive leisure type 27.4%, excessive work type36.8%, and occupational balance type 30.2%. The work type and the work area of daily life are closely related, and the occupational balance type had a positive effect on the occupational area.
Conclusion: People with developmental disabilities can perform community activities through vocational rehabilitation, and can balance their time use and occupation in each occupational area. In the future, it is thought that systematicsupport in consideration of occupational balance will be needed for access or intervention in people withdevelopmental disabilities.
